New Renault Alpine a110-50 concept car unveiled

Well well well…
Some people might accuse me of being a Renaultsport fanboy and any other day I’d refuse and say ‘no no, not at all, I just appreciate good engineering’, lets face it, £ for lb Renaultsport have repeatedly proven to be the best front wheel drive hatches around a circuit, the Renaultsport Megane 250 is the quickest factory produced front wheel drive car around the Nurburgring and that was before the Renaultsport Megane 265 was released…
Well today people i’m going to fan the flames of accusation, maybe I do just love Renault or is the new Renault Alpine a110-50 just the most gorgeous car to leave the Renault factory in recent years?
Renault has finally unveiled the Alpine A110-50 at the Monaco GP, to celebrate 50 years since the appearance of the first car to wear the Alpine badge – the Berlinette, this is the reason for the colour of the new car.
The car is loosley based on the Renaultsport Megane Trophy, it has the same chassis, engine, engine tone *drool* but brings with it perhaps a less redical body shape i.e closer to what can be used on public roads, pedestrian safe etc, the Alpine concept car uses the 400hp mid-mounted V6 from the Megane Trophy racer, linked to a semi-automatic six-speed sequential gearbox, as well as a twin-plate clutch that can be controlled using either the clutch pedal or a paddle on the steering wheel and the word is that Renault are beavering away on their calculators to determine if the Apline makes good financial sense to actually release for general sale, I’d really like to see this happen, anyway, on with the video and pictures…

For Renault haters, please respect that 1/3 of Formula One teams use Renault Engines, including Red Bull Renault which are in 1st place in the team standings at the time this article went to press.
Ciao!
